In a bid to decrease the number of people cramming in the Manila Rail Transit – 3, the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) has deployed over 30 air-conditioned point-to-point buses at different stations.
The effort was made to give the commuters more options amidst the regular technical problems faced by MRT – 3 which prompt riders to unload themselves on a daily basis.
According to Transportation Usec. for Rails Cesar Chavez, the point-to-point bus system of the agency will be deploying some 20 buses from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. at the North Avenue Station in Edsa.
Chavez also explained that the Southbound buses will only be having two stops; one in Ortigas Station, which will cause Php 20; and another in Ayala Avenue, which is Php 24.
On the afternoon, the point-to-point buses will be deploying another 20 vehicles from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. stationed at Taft Avenue Station.
Another 10 buses will be deployed in Ayala Avenue Station to transport commuters going to North Avenue.
Beginning Monday, the MRT – 3 suffered 10 technical problems following the Department of Transportation’s decision to terminate its contract with the maintenance provider Busan Universal Rail Inc. due to BURI’s poor performance.
