Congress has approved on its second reading the Php3.767 trillion proposed 2018 national budget.
With the viva voce vote, the YES votes prevailed and approved House Bill 6215.
Next year’s budget is centered on Education and Infrastructure programs of the Duterte administration.
The 2018 national budget is higher by 12.4 percent compared to that of last year’s.
A big chunk of the budget will be allocated to Social Services with Php1.45 trillion or 38.5 percent.
The Top 10 agencies who will be receiving the most funds for next year include:
Department of Education: php567.562 billion
Department of Public Works and Highways: php458.610 billion
Department of Interior and Local Government: php150.051 billion
Department of National Defense: php134.543 billion
Department of Social Welfare and Development: php129.912 billion
Department of Health: php94.047 billion
Department of Transportation: php55.479 billion
Department of Agriculture: php45.292 billion
Department of Justice: php32.542 billion
Department of Environment and Natural Resources: php29.371 billion
Meanwhile, the lower house gave the Commission on Human Rights and the National Commission on Indigenous Peoples Php1,000 each for their 2018 budget.
