The proposed 2020 National Budget has been approved on its third and final reading at the House of Representatives.
With a vote of 257 affirmative, six negative and zero abstention, the lawmakers on Friday night ended the interpellation on House Bill 4228 or the Php 4.1 trillion 2020 General Appropriations Bill.
The last topics that were discussed in tonight’s deliberation included the lump sum and funds for the Department of Transportation, Department of Budget and Management, Department of Information and Communication Technology and the National Intelligence and Coordinating Agency.
There were no questions thrown at the lump sum which is expected to get criticized because the projects lined up under it were not itemized properly.
Meanwhile, the deliberation ended abruptly as 272 lawmakers were present at the Plenary this Friday.
Iloilo Rep. Janette Garin headed the Turno En Contra for the 2020 national budget wherein it highlighted the budget cuts made for the Department of Health, Department of Education and other social services.
After the Turno En Contra, the lower house immediately voted on the second reading of the said proposed budget; they used viva voce in voting.
