The local government unit of Marikina City provided eight coasters, and 10 vans to ferry workers in the area.
Marikina City mayor Marcelino Teodoro said on Monday, June 1, that the local government set drop-off points in industrial-manufacturing areas, commercial areas, and transportation hubs.
“Meron kaming point-to-point na sinusunod,” Teodoro said during DZRH’s Coffee Break.
The local chief also said that Marikina City plans to acquire a special permit from the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) in order to employ the use of public utility buses to provide additional modes of transportation for workers.
“Nagpapakuha ako nung mga bus at hinihingi ko ng special permit sa LTFRB pero ito’y LGU-sponsored pa rin para magamit ng ating mga mangagawa,” Teodoro revealed.
Aside from Marikina City, the local government unit of Muntinlupa City also provided free shuttle service to workers but each unit can only carry a maximum of six passengers per trip to ensure physical distancing.
The local government units of Valenzuela City and Quezon City also deployed vans to transport employees to their place of work.
