On Wednesday, another lawmaker asked Presidential Communications Secretary Martian Andanar to step down from his post, following the resignation of Mocha Uson as the Assistant Secretary, in order for the said agency to start with a clean slate.
“The resignation of Ms. Mocha Uson from her post as the assistant secretary at PCOO is a golden opportunity for Malacanang and PCOO to hit the reset button on some of its public communications efforts,” 1-Ang Edukasyon party-list Representative Salvador Belaro said.
Belaro also added that Andanar should also resign in order for him to “take moral and command responsibility for the numerous failings of the PCOO and agencies under his jurisdiction.” He also justified the need for ‘competent and honest people’ to work under the agency who merely handles the coverage of presidential activities.
“We want the PCOO converted into a department of integrated communications. The Office of the President should have its separate communications office all under the presidential spokesperson,” he added. He likewise urged a special audit of the entire PCOO including that of Uson’s former office.
On Wednesday, during the deliberation for the PCOO 2019 budget, Uson announced her resignation.
