Department of Labor and Employment Sec. Silvestre ‘Bebot’ Bello III denied rumors that he will be resigning from the Presidential Cabinet.
Bello said that his alleged resignation can be considered “fake news.”
Previously, President Rodrigo Duterte declared that Bello will be resigning from the Presidential Cabinet in order to run for senator in the 2019 elections.
According to the Labor secretary, he is almost 75 years old and after about 30 years of public service, it is about time for him to serve himself.
“Fake news iyon.” Bello said during DZRH’s One On One “After almost 30 years of public service, kailangan naman ng self-service.”
Bello further added that he already pledged to retire from public office along with Duterte, whose term as President is set to end on 2022.
“Mula nung umupo si Presidente, sabi ko. ‘boss sabay tayo mag-retire. Pag-retire mo as President, I will retire with you’.” Bello added.
Rumors on Bello’s supposed resignation floated anew amidst reports of the Presidential Cabinet being reshuffled, and the departure of Justice Sec. Vitaliano Aguirre II from his post.
