Groups against the ongoing construction of Torre de Manila, a DMCI Homes project, that is “photobombing” the view of the Rizal Monument in Manila asked the Supreme Court to stop the construction and order the demolition of the building.
The Knights of Rizal and Las Damas de Rizal Philippines, Inc. filed a petition for injunction before the high court seeking the “the immediate and complete demolition of Torre de Manila, a DMCI Homes project, to clear the view of the Rizal Monument and the Rizal Park for posterity.”
“The Torre de Manila will surely destroy the scenic view of the Rizal monument, which serves as the symbol of our great race and unique image of our nation, as well as that of the Rizal Park,” said the petitioners in a statement.
The group added that the monument “is the identifying mark of our country’s irreplaceable greatness when all foreign dignitaries, state visitors and the like pay homage and offered respect thereof.”
Groups were outraged of the construction of the condominium, which they claimed has destroyed the beautiful view of Rizal’s monument.
