The King Cross returns to Manila

Allen Iverson to visit Manila later this year

NBA fans are in for treat.  The Answer, Allen Iverson is finally returning to Manila.

However, contrary to what has been reported recently, Iverson will not be participating in an exhibition game with fellow former NBA players.

According to his long time manager Gary Moore, they are still in talks regarding Iverson’s comeback in the country.  In an email sent to the press, Gary stated that “it is my desire not to confuse the public.  Allen will not be available in July and as his agent I have partnered with Sheryl Reyes and have complete confidence in her expertise as it relates to the market in the Philippines,”.

Iverson in past interviews expressed his interest in visiting the Philippines.  The former Most Valuable Player first came to the country in 1998 as part of a five-country promotional basketball tour which included stops in Chinese Taipei, Hongkong, Japan and South Korea.

The details of the visit are still being ironed out by Moore and the team of Sheryl Reyes.  The proposed date is in August or later this year.

Moore is excited to share this news however, since Reyes informed him that Iverson is a big hit here in the Philippines.  According to Moore, Iverson has a soft spot for the Filipinos.  This was evident when he heard of the devastation brought by typhoon Yolanda to the people of Tacloban.

According to his agent, Iverson was disheartened and sends his support to all the victims.

“When [Iverson] heard of the tragic event it was like he had family and friends there even though he had never visited the island before”.

Allen Iverson was the first round overall draft-pick in 1996 by the Philadelphia 76ers’ and wore the same jersey until 2006, then returned during the 2009-2010 season.

He also played for the Denver Nuggets, Detroit Pistons and Memphis Grizzles before crossing over in the Turkish Basketball League in 2010.

He placed 19th overall in the NBA All-time scoring leaders.

Moore is looking forward with this partnership with Reyes as they plan on bringing in more basketball talents in the future.

Sheryl Reyes is an import player agent responsible in bringing to the country the likes of Stephon Marbury and Rob Dozier among others.
