Veteran showbiz reporter Aster Amoyo was offended with Pinoy Big Brother Teen Edition Winner Kim Chiu’s sharp statement after being asked to give an honest answer regarding the status of her relationship with onscreen partner Xian Lim, who stars with her in Star Cinema’s upcoming movie.
The showbiz reporter asked the 23-year-old actress during a press conference held last Tuesday for “Bride for Rent,” whether she and Lim are really a couple in real life.
Amoyo’s question went:
“We want an honest answer, kasi nauumay na rin kami, parati kaming nabibitin, may tinatanong kami kung anu-anong pasikut-sikot ang sinasagot sa amin, and this time we want an honest answer. Nasaang level na kayo ng inyong relasyon, and kayo na ba kung saka-sakali?”
Chiu feisty answered:
“Ako, ano, sinabi ko na rin nga po ito sa last presscon naming dalawa, e. We don’t owe you any of our personal lives siguro. You can think whatever you want to think as long as you’re happy when you watch us on TV, nakikita niyo kung papano kami ma-inlove, ganyan. And ‘yun na ‘yon. And lahat naman tayo merong mga hindi dapat i-share o dapat i-share, and it’s our choice, and I hope you guys respect that. Thank you.”
Asked with the same question, Lim answered in a cooler tone:
“In time naman po malalaman naman po ng lahat kung ano ‘yung status, kung anuman po ‘yung gustong malaman nila,”
The press conference was not the venue to answer that kind of question but to promote their film, the actor added.
Referring to Chiu’s statement, Amoyo felt insulted with Chiu’s answer and reportedly walked out of the conference.
Chiu found it hard to sleep that night and posted on her Twitter account “can’t sleep.” The actress gathered both negative and positive feedbacks from netizens.
