Sandiganbayan Associate Justice Rafael Lagos reprimanded the lawyers of former Senator Jose ‘Jinggoy’ Estarada for allegedly postponing the hearing on the plunder charges filed against the client in relation to the Pork Barrel Fund scam.
The camp of Estrada submitted a late motion questioning the draft of the pre-trial order, which the former Senator refused to sign.
Due to the pending motion of Estrada, the first day of the hearing was cancelled.
Lagos believes that the motion only seeks to delay the proceedings.
Lagos said that Estrada’s camp could have filed the motion during the last two weeks and not during the day of hearing.
Estrada has denied the allegations that he is hindering the court process and insist that he has no reason to postpone the hearing since he has been imprisoned in Camp Crame for three years.
Meanwhile, Estrada appealed to the court for a 2-day pass in order to undergo video colonoscopy at Cardinal Santos Medical Center.
This is based on the recommendation of the doctors in the Philippine National Police Custodial Center due to abnormalities in his blood test.
