Outraged informal settlers went to some government offices on Monday to condemn the demolition at Road10, Tondo in Manila.
The “Samahan ng mga magkakapitbahay sa Road 10” reacted to the notice of the demolition in 30 days, which they found ridiculous, signed by Department of Public Works and Highways regional director Reynaldo Tagundando.
Hundreds of residents tore and blazed the notice of demolition during the rally in front of the DPWH office to express their opposition.
The informal settlers also plans to rally at the National Housing Authority and Manila City Hall offices to insist Manila Mayor Joseph Estrada to follow his promise that there will be no demolition in Tondo.
Houses along Road 10 will be demolished to widen the road for trucks that are entering and leaving Aduana.
