An immigration officer of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) was relieved of her post after an unexplained departure of 19 Filipinos to the Middle East even without proper documents.
The immigration officer was identified as Ronna Mae Villanueva, a member of the travel control and enforcement at NAIA.
BI Commissioner Ricardo Davide Jr. gave Villanueva 72 hours to explain why she’s not to be charged administratively despite her involvement in the case.
The 19 Filipinos are suspected to be victims of human trafficking by an illegal recruiter.
Villanueva has been reassigned to the BI main office while pending the results of the investigation. (Kisses Jabson)
