The Lower House supports the position of House Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez that the country needs “Federalism” in order to hasten the process in creating new laws.
According to Surigao del Sur Rep. Jonny Pimentel, Alvarez is right when he mentioned that a lot of bills that have been passed in the House of Representatives, including the Dealth Penatly, that are still pending in the Senate.
Eastern Samar Rep. Ben Evardone added that proposed laws and other issues will easily be discussed because of the regional assembly if we already have a Federal form of government.
Meanwhile, Deputy Speaker Raneo Abu and Quezon City Rep. Winston Castelo said that under Federalism, implementation of programs and projects will be faster and all of President Rodrigo Duterte’s promises will be fulfilled.
Negros Occidental Rep. Albee Benitez said that the government will be able to save a lot under the unicameral legislative system because the Senate will just be a duplicate of the legislative work of the lower house.
