Magnolia Hotshots seized a 86-82 victory against the San Miguel Beermen on Sunday, May 5, at the Araneta Coliseum in Cubao to regain the lead in the 2019 PBA Philippine Cup Finals Series.
Andy Barroca scored 22 points to lead Magnolia, which now enjoys a 2-1 lead in the best-of-seven series, to victory.
Ian Sangalang also finished with 17 points and 15 rebounds while Rafi Reavis added 16 points and 15 rebounds for the Hotshots that led by 12 points, 54-42, at most during the game.
Magnolia still had a 10-point advantage, 68-58, in the start of the fourth quarter. However, Beermen’s Chris Ross and Christian Standhardinger scored back-to-back baskets in order to cut the lead of the Hotshots to two, 68-66.
With 17 seconds left in the game, San Miguel’s Alex Cabagnot, who finished with 11 points, scored a three pointer to cut the deficit to three, 82-79. However, Barocca made four straight free throws to bring the Hotshots up by seven points, 86-79, with less than 10 seconds left.
Arwind Santos finished with 19 points and 12 rebounds while June Mar Fajardo had 17 points and 14 rebounds to pace the Beermen, who will seek to get back in Game-4 on Wednesday, May 4, at the Araneta Coliseum.
