Kidapawan city mayor Joseph Evangelista confirmed on Monday, June 29, that a 20-year old male who tested positive for the 2019 Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) attended the recent birthday party of Cotabato Gov, Nancy Catamco.
“Sa pahayag naman ni Gov. Catamco, hindi naman nag-tagal and, I think, there was physical distancing,” Evangelista said during DZRH’s Magandang Umaga Pilipinas.
Aside from the birthday party that happened in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic, Evangelista said that the infected person also went to a firing range before he learned of his test results.
The local chief executive said that provincial epidemiology and surveillance unit already conducted contact tracing and so far no one has tested positive for COVID-19.
“Pumunta pa sa isang firing range. May long-range officers na direct contact niya so iyon ay nag-swab at hinihintay natin ang results,” Evangelista added.
Kidapawan City, the capital of Cotabato province, is currently under under modified general community quarantine meaning mass gatherings, including movie screenings, concerts, sporting events, entertainment activities, community assemblies, and non-essential work gatherings, are allowed provided that participants shall be limited to 50 percent of the venue or sitting capacity.
