The government will treat embattled residents of Tacloban City with a spirit-lifting screening of the Manny Pacquiao-Brandon Rios fight on Sunday, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said.

In a press conference on Friday morning, NDRRMC executive director Eduardo Del Rosario bared the good news as the fight will be aired live from the Cotai Arena in Macau at the Tacloban Airport, astrodome and at the city hall.

The free screening is the government’s treat to residents who still haven’t built their houses after supertyphoon Yolanda swept through Visayas last November 8, flattening the entire Tacloban City and killing at least over 4,000 people.

The Filipino boxing pride offered the fight for the Filipinos who are recovering from the aftermath of Yolanda and vowed to win the fight for them.

Pacquiao has also expressed his eagerness to visit typhoon survivors but his hectic schedule won’t let him. Head trainer Freddie Roach advised Pacquiao to just focus on the fight.
