National Task Force on 2019 Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) deputy chief implementer Sec. Vivencio Dizon expects that more than two million Filipinos will be tested by the month of August.
Dizon, the testing czar, said that the government has conducted 1.4 million COVID-19 tests as of July 26.
“Halos 1.4 million test na ang nagawa natin at papalapit na tayo ng papalapit sa ating ultimate goal na makaka-test tayo ng 10 milyong Pilipino,” Dizon said on Thursday, July 30, during a virtual press briefing.
Dizon trusts that the Philippines can reach its target since the government conducts at least 33,000 tests per day since July 25.
Due to the increased testing capability of the Philippines, Dizon reported that health workers and non-medical front-liners can undergo COVID-19 testing regularly.
The testing czar said that the COVID-19 tests of the health workers and non-medical frontliners will be covered by the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth).
