The government and the CPP-NPA-NDF unilaterally declared ceasefire this coming Christmas season.
Presidential Spokesman Sec. Edwin Lacierda said that the said ceasefire will be effective starting midnight of December 21st and will last until January 15, 2014.
The ceasefire would mean that no offense will either come from the military and the rebel groups.
According to Lacierda, the said ceasefire was recommended by the Armed Forces of the Philippines and the Department of National Defense.
The CPP-NPA-NDF already declared a six-day ceasefire from December 24 up to Dec. 26 and Dec. 31 up to Jan. 2, 2014.
Meanwhile, AFP Spokesman Col. Ramon Zagala criticized the unilateral ceasefire between the government and the NPA because it seemed too short.
