Nueva Ecija Governor Aurelio ‘Oyie’ Umali described the passing away of broadcaster Jose Malgapo Taruc Jr., popularly known as Joe Taruc or Manong Joe, as a great loss to the public who loved him, and not only to his family and the news industry.

According to Gov. Umali, the province of Nueva Ecija and admirers of Dr. Taruc lost a father since the veteran broadcaster helped many of his fans.

Gov. Umali remembered the assistance and teachings provided by Dr. Taruc, particularly to the city of Gapan.

“Walang pinipili yung pag-tulong sa kapwa. Walang pinipiling edad iyan. Yung kanyang Damdaming Bayan kabilang lahat matatanda, bata.” Gov. Umali said during an interview with DZRH. “Kung makikilala niyo lang is Manong Joe na araw-araw parang walang kapaguran. Kung makwekwento niyo lang ang buhay niya, makikita niyo kung gaano kahirap maging mamahayag.”

Dr. Taruc passed away last October 1, and his cremation and funeral is scheduled tomorrow, Saturday in Nueva Ecija.
