Gilas Pilipinas has successfully qualified for the semi-finals of the Men’s basketball event of the 2017 Southeast Asian games in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
The Philippine National Men’s Basketball team defeated the host team with the score of 98-66 in order to enter the next round of the tournament.
At the start of the game, Malaysia took the lead with a score of 18-20, but Gilas fought back at the second quarter and took the lead with a score of 47-35.
During the third quarter, the offense of the Philippine team was put in danger after Carl Bryan Cruz and Baser Amer were removed from the game due to a scuffle with some Malaysian players.
However, Gilas maintained the strength of their attacks until the fourth quarter and was able to widen the score gap by more than 30 points.
The Philippine team was led by Filipino-German Christian Standhardinger who scored 18 points and gave 18 rebounds.
Gilas has now three consecutive wins and remains undefeated in the 29th SEA Games.
