PNP Chief Director General Ronald Dela Rosa suspended Oplan Tokhang and Project Double Barrel which formed the core of the strengthened anti-drug campaign all over the Philippines.
Gen. Dela Rosa said that the PNP will only carry out intelligence gathering after President Rodrigo Duterte transferred the implementation of all anti-drug activities to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency.
Gen. Dela Rosa further added that the PNP is obliged to turn over any information regarding illegal drugs to PDEA.
Gen. Dela Rosa insisted that the PNP will focus on their anti-criminality campaign, particularly on the severe problem caused by the killings orchestrated by riding-in-tandems.
Pres. Duterte removed the PNP from its “war on drugs” campaign following the questionable death of minors.
Meanwhile, the Free Legal Assistance Group (FLAG) filed a petition to the Supreme Court in order to stop the Duterte Administration’s ‘War-on-Drugs’. The group explained that the ‘War-on-Drugs’ violates human rights and due process of law.
