Gay boxer to fight for world title

A gay boxer will fight for supremacy—world title champions ship this 2013.

Orlando ‘the phenomenon’ Cruz of Puerto Rico said that the World Boxing Organization has approved the world championship fight between him and former Mexican champion Orlando Siri Salido for the vacant featherweight title.

The title was vacant after world champion Mikey Garcia failed to reach the contracted weight limit in his fight against Juan Manuel Lopez last month.

Cruz is the first active boxer who came out of the closet and announced that he’s openly gay.

In one interview, Cruz said that he targets to be the first openly gay champion in the history of boxing after coming out last year.

Cruz totes a professional record of 20 wins, 10 via knockout against two losses and a draw. (Chris Capulso)
