The freezing on Senator Jinggoy Estrada’s will push through after the Sandiganbayan junked the Motion for Reconsideration filed by Estrada against the garnishment order on his assets for lack of merit.
The resolution of the Anti-graft court 5th division insist that the garnishment of his properties is part of his Plunder case.
In the previous order from the Court, the judges favored the argument of the prosecution that the government need to protect the removal, hiding and spending of amount considered to be ill-gotten wealth.
The garnishment order covers the 183.7 million pesos worth of cash and assets of the detained Senator, believed to be his kick-back from the Pork Barrel fund.
Estrada is facing Plunder and Graft cases at the Sandiganbayan for his alleged involvement in the PDAF scam. (with DZRH Leth Narciso-Abinales)
