The local government units of Quezon City and Valenzuela City offered free trips to stranded commuters during the rush hour on Monday, Sept. 16, because of the heavy rains.
In coordination with the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) and the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA), 30 free trips were provided to stranded commuters in Commonwealth Ave., Quezon City.
Quezon City mayor Joy Belmonte personally inspected Commonwealth Ave. to ensure that the free trips will reach all affected commuters.
Meanwhile, trucks were deployed along MacArthur Highway and Marcelo H. Del Pilar St. in Valenzuela to transport commuters stranded because of floods caused by the inclement weather.
Low-lying areas in Manila, Pasay City, Caloocan City, and Mandaluyong City also experienced floods.
