Former Sen. Nene Pimentel’s advise to PCOO Asec Mocha: ‘Stick to entertainment’

(L-R) Former Sen. Aquilino ‘Nene’ Pimentel Jr., Communications Asec. Margaux Uson

Former Senate President Aquilino ‘Nene’ Pimentel Jr., leader of the Charter Change Committee, has one advise to Communications Asec. Margaux ‘Mocha’ Uson, that is to distance herself from the issue of Federalism.

During a press briefing in the Malacanang on Friday, September 21, Pimentel said that Uson should not be involved in issues that she does not understand. The former lawmaker claimed that the public became more confused on the proposed shift to a Federal form of government due to the likes of the assistant secretary.

Pimentel added that Uson should just remain in the entertainment industry and stick to dancing.

Dapat siguro nandoon siya sa entertainment lang. Huwag naman siya sasali dito sa mga isyu mukhang hindi naman niya naiintindihan,” Pimentel told reporters

Lalong magkakagulo ang pag-iisip ng taong bayan kung haluan mo ng, by statements coming from an assistant secretary in government, occupying a government position paid for by the people,” the former senator added.

In August, supporters of the proposed shift to a federal form of government criticized Uson after she posted a video in which fellow blogger Drew Olivar chanted ‘i-pepe, i-dede, i-pederalismo’ while pointing to his chest and genitalia.

‘Pepe’ is a Filipino term for the female genetalia, while ‘dede’ commonly denotes a female breast.

Pimentel further added that the video of Uson wasted time and government funds ‘to ventilate an issue supposedly coming from a responsible government official’.

In response to the statement of Pimentel, Uson said that she respects the opinion of the former Senate President, but defended her former occupation as an entertainer.

The assistant secretary also stressed that the former Senate President should have watched the video first before making his comment so that he will know that she wasn’t the one dancing in the video.

Ginagalang ko po ang opinyon ni Sir Nene. Proud po ako na ako’y dating entertainer. Pero sana wag niyang nila “lang” lang ang pagsasayaw,” Uson said in a text message to reporters

Sana pinanuod muna niya ang video bago siya nagkomento dahil hindi naman po ako ang sumayaw sa video ng Pederalismo,” Uson added.
