The Football Alliance Cup, the final competition of the 2013-14 UFL season, gets underway on Saturday, July 12.
The two-week tournament features the top six clubs in the 1st Division, with all the matches to be held at the new and improved Rizal Memorial Football Stadium. The winner of the competition will be awarded P100,000 to a charity of their choice.
“The FA Charity Cup serves as a fitting end to the very successful UFL 2014 Season. We have invited the top 6 1st Division teams to take part in this special knockout tournament. It is our way of giving back to the football loving community that has supported us throughout the years,” said UFL General Manager Rely San Agustin.
League champions Global and second placed Loyola Meralco Sparks await in the semifinals, awaiting the winners in the quarterfinal ties between Kaya and Pachanga Diliman, and Stallion and Green Archers United.
All quarterfinal and semi-final matches will be played in two-legged contests, with scores carrying over from the first game into the second leg. Given that all matches will be held in one venue, there will be no away-goals rule.
The competition provides the perfect culmination to a historic UFL season, with fans treated to the very best in Philippine club football battling in an exciting knockout tournament.
The Football Alliance Cup also provides the clubs a first taste at the newly renovated Rizal Memorial Football Stadium, which now features a pristine artificial pitch.
