A fire engulfed the Sto. Niño de Pandacan Parish Church in Manila on Friday afternoon, July 10.
According to the Manila Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office(MDRRMO), the blaze started at the backside of the church around 1:07 PM and has reached the third alarm around 1:19 PM.
In a report from the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), the interior of the church has been heavily damaged while parts of the roof also collapsed. Residents around the area also helped in retrieving the Nazarene image which was also consumed by fire.
However, authorities have yet to determine whether the 400-year-old image of Sto. Niño was stolen or consumed by fire since the inside of the parish was completely engulfed.
There were no immediate reports of injuries.
Authorities are still investigating the cause of the blaze as of this writing.
