Malacanang should explain regarding the alleged return of pork barrel for lawmakers in the 2017 national budget.
According to Senator Panfilo Lacson, regardless of what explanation the Duterte administration will provide, the additional allocation for members of Congress is still considered as ‘pork barrel.’
This was the reaction of Lacson, based on the report that the former Php70 million, the budgetary allocation for projects of lawmakers under the 2017 proposed national budget is now at Php80million.
Congressman Toby Tiango said that Php50 million will be allocated to hard projects like infrastructure, and Php30million will be for soft projects, like scholarships and livelihood projects.
Lacson added that incoming House Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez should explain the said additional funds so that the public will not think that the Duterte administration is no different from the Aquino administration.
