The Department of Trade and Industry has ordered a price freeze of all basic commodities following the recent activities of Mt Mayon in Albay.

Based on the agency’s statement, the price freeze is effective in Albay after it had gone under a state of Calamity as Mt Mayon continues to spew ashes.

Evacuees continue to rise in numbers as authorities have advised them to seek safer areas.

According to the DTI, they are personally monitoring the prices on basic commodities within the region.

Some of these goods include canned goods, laundry bar, detergent powder, candles, bread, salt, bottled water, and instant noodles.

Because of the price freeze, business owners are not allowed to raise their prices within 60 days after their region has been declared under a state of calamity, or until it has not been lifted.
