The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) has implemented a 60-day prize freeze on basic products in Camiguin after the Camiguin Provincial government declared a state of calamity due to severe effect of the El Nino phenomenon in the province.

Under Republic Act 7581 or the Price Act of the Philippines Section 6, which states that prices of basic products should remain stable in areas declared under the state of calamity.

The DTI reminded business establishments in the province to abide the implementation of price freeze in order not to be penalized.
