DSWD warns public of fake social media account facilitating adoption


The Department of Social Welfare and Development issued a warning to the public of a fake Facebook account that allegedly facilitates adoption.

Based on the statement issued by Social Marketing Service Director Cezario Joel Espejo, the syndicate behind the fake Facebook account is using the agency’s logo with pictures of kids that are allegedly up for adoption.

Espejo added that the fake company is charging large amount of money to facilitate the adoption process of those wanting to adopt children.

The DSWD insisted that this is a clear scam and that they never authorized such social media account.

In line with this, the DSWD is reminding the public or whoever is interested in adopting, to directly reach out to them via their hotline, 951-7438 or through their official Facebook account, “Department of Social Welfare and Development”, or their Twitter account, @dswdserves.  You can also drop them an email, “ for the initial requirements in adopting.
