The Department of Transportation (DOTr) on Tuesday sought for the public’s participation in the government’s modernization program.
Speaking to DZRH on Tuesday morning, DOTr Usec. Tim Orbos said that the public plays a great role in increasing surveillance on the agency’s ‘Sumbong Bulok, Sumbong Usok’ campaign which aims to eliminate the presence of worn out and hazardous public utility vehicles off the streets.
Orbos further noted that through the public’s participation their agency can better track down violators who continue to pollute the country with dilapidated vehicles.
According to Orbos, citizens can inform members of the Inter-Agency Council for Traffic (I-ACT) through social media of handing over their reports personally.
Meanwhile on the issue regarding the country’s worsening traffic, Orbos explained that the government is working on a series of strategies meant to alleviate the growing traffic concern.
“Kasama po ito sa direction natin; number one, we have to build more roads; number two, we really have to integrate yung ating mga kanya kanyang traffic managers na pag isahin na lang; pangatlo, yung modernization ng public transport; at pangapat, yung pag ayos ng mass transport.
“Talagang hamon na ito sa amin kung baga kailangan mag double time na po kame kasi andyan po yung problema lumalaki na and we have to address it,” Orbos told DZRH.
