Sen. Imee Marcos is asking the Department of Transportation to give away free face shields as Metro Manila starts imposing commuters to wear face shields.
Based on the directive of the DOTr, aside from mandatory wearing of face masks, commuters are now asked to also wear face shields in all forms of public transportation.
According to Marcos, a face shield is an additional expense for the commuting public.
The lady senator complained that is not enough for commuters to wear face masks and do physical distancing to avoid contacting the Coronavirus?
Marcos added that even though a face shield is an added protection, it shouldn’t be mandatory because only a few can afford to buy one, unless the DOTr will provide them for free.
In line with this new memo, Marcos is also asking the Department of Trade and Industry to monitor the price of face shields in the market to avoid sellers from abusing the sudden demand on the product.
