DOT sets Oct. 1 as target date for reopening of hotels for ‘staycation’

Department of Tourism

Department of Tourism (DOT) Sec. Bernadette Romulo-Puyat announced that the national government targets to reopen hotels for ‘staycation’ by October 1.

However, Puyat said that DOT has yet to finalize the guidelines, and the date could still change.

Currently, hotels in areas under general community quarantine only accept guests with existing long-term bookings, distressed overseas Filipinos; healthcare workers, and employees from exempted establishments.

Puyat added that the DOT is also waiting for the Department of Health to release the protocols on antigen testing.
