The Department of Justice will not review its contract with the security agency owned by the family of Solicitor General Jose Calida.

According to Justice Sec. Menardo Guevarra, there is no need to probe the contract with Vigilant Investigative and Security Agency Inc. (VISAI) since no one challenges its validity.

Currently, the DOJ secretary said that he presumes that there is regularity in the performance of duty by the said security agency.

Guevarra insisted that ‘from the viewpoint of the DOJ what is important is that all the procurement laws, rules, and regulations were observed when it entered into these contracts’.

Meanwhile, Calida refuted the allegations that there is conflict of interest, and pointed out that he did not sign the contracts in question.

The Office of the Solicitor General also claimed that Calida has resigned from his position in VISAI before he was appointed to a government position by President Rodrigo Duterte in 2016.
