Health Secretary Francisco Duque III has been spared once again from facing liabilities in the alleged corruption within the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation.
According to opposition Sen. Francis Pangilinan, it’s no longer a surprise that the task force formed by the Department of Justice did not include the names of Duque and resigned PHILHEALTH Senior Vice President for the Legal Sector Atty. Rodolfo del Rosario Jr. in the list of personalities that they will be pressing charges.
Pangilinan said that Duque is now part of the long list of corrupt and “incompetent untouchables” because he’s an ally of President Rodrigo Duterte.
The veteran senator mentioned that the list includes Nicanor Faeldon from the Bureau of Customs and Bureau of Corrections, the Tulfo brothers from the Department of Tourism, Jason Aquino from the National Food Authority, Peter Lavinia from National Irrigation Administration, Vitaliano Aguirre from the Department of Justice, General Oscar Albayalde and General Debold Sinas from the Philippine National Police.
Meanwhile, Senate President Vicente Sotto III is hoping that the result from the Office of the Ombudsman will be more acceptable because is has enough evidence to pin down Duque and other officials of PHILHEALTH.
