The Department of Health (DOH) has formally launched the ‘Anti-dengue vaccine’program in Parang Elementary School, Marikina City.
DOH Sec. Janette Garin herself injected a grade four female pupil who is the first to avail the said vaccine.
Another 600 pupils received the said vaccine that will help prevent dengue.
According to DOH, only three regions in the Philippines will be given the anti-dengue vaccine, including the National Capital Region (NCR), CALABARZON and Central Luzon.
Sec. Garin clarified that it is not yet 100 percent guaranteed that those who received the vaccine will be spared from dengue.
It can be recalled that many have opposed the purchase of the said vaccine since it is not recommended by the World Health Organization (WHO).
