The Department of Energy (DOE) implemented on Tuesday, April 23, a price freeze covering household liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and kerosene products in Porac, Pampanga due to the recent magnitude 6.1 earthquake.

The DOE ordered the price freeze after the local government of Porac declared a state of calamity due to the damages that the municipality sustained because of the strong earthquake that hit Zambales and was felt all over Luzon.

The price freeze is effective for 15 days following the declaration of a state of calamity.

Republic Act 7581 also known as the Price Act, as amended by RA 10623, states that a prize freeze is automatically enforced in all basic necessities after an area is declared under state of calamity.
