The Department of Interior and Local Government is asking the local chief executives in Metro Manila and Region III to give their full support for the delegates of the Association of South East Asian Nationa.
According to DILG Officer in Charge Catalino Cuy, the LGUs will play a big part during the ASEAN Summit, especially in making sure that roads that will be used during the summit will not cause traffic in their areas.
Cuy is encouraging LGUs to distribute information materials in their areas and inform the public of what ASEAN is all about and show support to the country for being the host this year.
Cuy made special mention to the LGUs who provided their agency with logistics support for the ASEAN Summit.
The DILG official said that we will be able to achieve a peaceful, safe and orderly summit if everyone will cooperate.
The security and safety preparations for the ASEAN Summit will be headed by the Committee on Security, Peace and Order, Emergency Preparedness and Response; with Cuy being the chairman.
