Undersecretary Martin Diño of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) has suggested setting up security checkpoints in every barangay to counter growing motorcycle-riding criminals.

According to Diño, establishing checkpoints would help decrease the number of riding-in-tandem cases and other illegal activities given the number of police stationed in every barangay.

Meanwhile, DILG Officer-in-Charge (OIC) Eduardo Ano said that their agency will continue in its campaign against illegal drugs, corruption, communist insurgency, and violent extremism.

“I will strongly uphold our primary mandate to ‘promote peace and order, ensure public safety and further strengthen local government capability aimed towards the effective delivery of basic services to the citizenry’” Ano said during the turnover ceremony on Tuesday, January 9.
