The Department of Education halted the supposed distribution of condoms to students by the Department of Health.

According to DepEd Sec. Leonor Briones, they already informed DOH Secretary Paulyn Ubial that they will not support the DOH’s plan to distribute condoms to students in public schools, to avoid the spread of HIV and AIDs.

Briones added that the DOH targets the minors, who still need parental consent on the said issue.

The DepEd mentioned that parents should not be bother by the said issue because they will not allow the distribution of condoms in school.

In spite of this, DepEd promised that they will review the Sex Education, including the students’ safety through age-appropriate and developmental reproductive health education starting grade1.
