The De La Salle University Lady Spikers are one step closer in grabbing their 10th championship trophy in the UAAP Womens’ Volleyball tournament.
The defending champions won Game-1 of the Best-of-3 Finals Series held at the Smart Araneta Coliseum on Tuesday.
The Lady Spikers bested their rivals, the Ateneo De Manila University Lady Eagles, who have constantly defeated them during the elimination rounds of the season.
Ateneo grabbed the first set of the game with a score of 21-25, but La Salle recovered in the second set with the score of 29-27. The Spikers then continued their dominance in the third and fourth set with the score of 25-22 and 25-20.
This is the sixth continuous final match-up between DLSU and ADMU in the UAAP Women’s Volleyball Tournament.
Both teams qualified for the finals of the UAAP Season 79 Women’s Volleyball Tournament after defeating the University of Santo Tomas Tigresses and Far Eastern University Lady Tamaraws during the semi-finals.
Game 2 is scheduled on May 6 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
