Customs seize Php 27.5 million worth of illegal drugs in NAIA

The Bureau of Customs (BOC) seized about Php 27.5 million worth of illegal drugs at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) in Pasay City.

Among the illegal substances confiscated by Customs include:

  • 500 grams of marijuana from the United States of America consigned to a certain Raven Velosa of Quezon;
  • 9 grams of crystalized methamphetamine, locally known as shabu, consigned to Joy Mariel of Cavite, who had already been arrested; and
  • Two kilograms of cocaine from Brazil whose intended recipient is the arrested Johnmel Natividad of Quezon City.

The shipments of illegal substances were discovered along with 120 boxes of clothes, blankets, and pillows that were not taken by shippers.

Customs will have to turn over some of the items to the Department of Social Welfare and Development so that it can be distributed to victims of Typhoon Ompong.

BoC also seized a snake in the Central Exchange of NAIA that was attempted to be smuggled to Taiwan.
