COVID-19 cases in PHL rise to more than 58,000

The Department of Health (DOH) announced on Wednesday, July 15, that the number of 2019 Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) cases climbed to 58,850 after the agency validated 1,392 new infections.

Out of the said total number of COVID-19 infections, DOH said that 36,260 are active cases.

Sa mga newly reported cases, meron tayong 512 na fresh at 880 late cases. Ang mga kasong iniulat natin ngayon araw ay mula sa laboratory submissions ng 63 out of 82 licensed laboratories,” DOH Usec. Maria Rosario Vergeire said during a virtual press briefing.

The Health Department also reported that the total number of COVID-19 recoveries went up to 20,976 after 517 patients recovered from the respiratory illness.

However, DOH said that 11 more patients succumbed to the disease, which brought the total to 1,614.

“Sa 11 deaths na ito, lima ang nangyari noong July at anim ang nangyari noong June. Sa mga deaths na ito, walo ay nanggaling sa National Capital Region, isa mula sa Region III, isa mula sa Region IV-A, at isa mula sa Region IX,” Vergeire explained.
