The proposed tax exemption for Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach has been approved in the committee level of Congress.

The House Committee on Ways and Means approved House Bill 6367 of Cagayan De Oro Rep. Rufus Rodriguez.

The said bill aim to exempt Pia from paying taxes for her winnings, including her crown, in recognition of her contribution to the country.

During Tuesday’s hearing at the lower house, Rodriguez asked the people from the Bureau of Internal Revenue if Pia’s other perks are also taxable, including skin care services, movie premier access, stylist fees among others.

The BIR said that this all depends if they have been taxed in the US already, then all she has to do is present the proper documents.

Pia’s crown is worth three hundred thousand dollars, more than 14 million pesos.  The reigning Miss Universe will have to pay a lot if the BIR plans on taxing her.
