The Lower House has already begun its investigation on the alleged rampant operation of jueteng in the country.
During DZRH’s Isyu, Camarines Congressman Luis Villafuerte Jr. alleged that prominent gambling lords are using the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office’s (PCSO) small town lottery (STL) as a front to run their illegal activities.
According to Cong. Villafuerte, he will be inviting alleged gambling lord Bong Pineda among others during an inquiry to question him regarding the gambling operations in Central Luzon and the Bicol Region.
Villafuerte stressed that they intend to extract needed information from Pineda as the government continues to lose Php1 billion annually amid existence of illegal jueteng operations.
During the Senate hearing on Wednesday, PCSO Board Member Sandra Cam revealed that Pineda operates both the STL and jueteng in Camarines Sur and Sorsogon.
The PCSO Director also accused General Manager Alexander Balutan of shielding gambling lords, particularly those involved in Jueteng in order to cover his rich beneficiaries.
