The total number of Presidential candidates that are included in the initial list of the Commission on Elections that were entered in its election management system has reached to 23.
However, COMELEC Chairman Andres Bautista clarified that the said number will still be altered because a lot of the petitions for some nuisance candidates have yet to be served because of they live in far distant areas.
Meanwhile, there are six candidates that made it to the initial list of Vice Presidentiables; 68 for Senatorial candidates and 119 Partylists.
Bautista said that the COMELEC will issue its final list of candidates between the dates of January 18 to 20.
In line with this, the six names under the Vice Presidential list include Maria Leonor Robredo for the Liberal Party; Francis Escudero, Independent; and Gringo Honasan under the United Nationalist Alliance.
Senators’ Alan Peter Cayetano, Bongbong Marcos and Antonio Trillanes IV are also included in the said list.
The COMELEC Chair insisted that these are the names that will be included in the official ballots, unless one of these candidates back out before the elections. (with DZRH Kisses Jabson)
