The Commission on Elections has postponed the supposed release of the official list of candidates for the 2016 national elections.
According to COMELEC Chairman Andres Bautista, they were supposed to release the official list of candidates, but decided to postpone it to December 23, next Wednesday.
Chairman Bautista was not able to provide any reason why they had to move the date of the said release.
According to the COMELEC chairman, what is important is the printing of the ballots.
Bautista further said that the COMELEC has enough time to consolidate the final list of candidates until the time set for the printing of ballots.
There have been reports that even the COMELEC is perplexed if they will include in the official list of candidates the names of Senator Grace Poe and Davao City mayor Rodrigo Durtete, who both have pending disqualification cases at the COMELEC.
Bautista clarified that until there is no final decision regarding the cases of Poe and Duterte, both names will be included in the official list of candidates for the 2016 elections. (with DZRH Cyrille Cupino)
