The Commission on Elections (COMELEC) will strictly monitor every candidate with their campaign expenses.

The COMELEC is reminding all candidates to monitor their spending even though the election campaign hasn’t started yet.

According to COMELEC Spokesman Jame Jimenez, included in the monitoring of expenses are the money candidates spend in online advertisements.

Under the Republic Act 7166, Synchronized Elections Law of 1991, the presidential and vice presidential candidates are allowed to spend ten pesos only per voter while candidates in other positions are only allowed to spend three pesos per voter during election period.

Political parties are allowed to spend five pesos only to every voter in their areas.
