The Commission on Elections have the capability to clean the list of candidates from those that are considered ‘nuisance.’

This was the reaction of Senator Koko Pimentel because during the first day of the filing of Certificate of Candidacy, there are already some personalities who have been declared as ‘nuisance’ by the COMELEC in past elections, who filed their CoCs anew.

According to Pimentel, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Electoral Reforms, they continue to iron out the law against nuisance candidates.

Pimentel added that up to now, it is difficult to identify a nuisance candidate from a certified one.

One of the first candidates to file for their CoC earlier today is Ely Pamatong.  Pamatong has been declared nuisance by the COMELEC several times already.
